This souvenir album belonged to Josephine Lewis of Montgomery, Ala, who in 1859 attended the East Alabama Female College in Tuskegee. The earliest date for an entry in the album is 1859 and the latest is 1867. (Entries are not in chronological order, and many are not dated.) It contains the poetry and prose of Miss Lewis, and her friends. The entries are chiefly tributes and good wishes to Miss Lewis and reflections on life. Four locks of hair, identified by initials, are stitched to one page.
